芸術祭のポスターをデザインするにあたって、何か華やいだイメージを抽象的に表現したいと思い、アイデアを探しているときに出会ったのがスミスチャートでした。1939年にフィリップ・スミスにより発明された、この電子工学に使われる特殊なチャートはそれ自体が極めて美しいものです。私はこのチャートの線上に、小さな点を並べることで、言うなれば、線から点への翻訳を試みました。作業は手作業でした。

Upon designing a poster for an art festival, I wanted to express a flamboyant image in an abstract manner. As I was looking around for ideas, I encountered the Smith Chart. Invented by Phillip Smith in 1939, this special chart used in electronics had an inherent beauty. I decided to place dots over the lines of the chart. In another words, I attempted to translate the lines into dots. The work was done manually.
