1980年代後半のデザイン界における衝撃的な事件はコンピューターが使われ始めたことです。このカレンダーの数字はいくつかの書体をもとに、それらを立体化し、回転させながらシークエンスを生み出し、かつてない数字による風景をつくりだすことでした。 スキャナーが一般には手に入らない時代で、モニターに書体のリスフィルムを張り付け、マウスでトレースし、原始的なソフトウエアでなんとか数字のアウトラインを回転することが出来ました。膨大な量の手仕事でしたが、それでも手で描くことは至難の世界を生み出すことが出来たと思います。

The biggest impact on design was the introduction of computer in the late 1980s. The aim of this calendar was to create a sequence of three-dimensional numerals by rotating them. Scanners were still not available at that time, so a litho film with the typeface was pasted on the monitor screen and the outline was traced with the mouse. With primitive software, the outlined numerals were then rotated. It was an enormous amount of manual work, but I believe I was able to create a different world almost impossible to achieve by drawing.
