【MoMAトランプ】デザイナー 五十嵐威暢のトランプを復刻したい！
と、クラウドファンディングのプロジェクトを立ち上げ頑張ってくれています。
1993年にニューヨーク近代美術館（MoMA）から発売されたイガラシデザインのトランプの復刻、製品化プロジェクトです。
森さんがMoMAに相談を持ちかけたのは3年前。長期間の交渉の末のスタートです。
MacIIの登場でコンピューターがデザインの道具になりそうな機運を感じていた1980年代後半から90年代前半、ぼくの興味はイラストレーターのソフトに組み込まれていたブレンディングツールでした。実際、このツールで多くの作品を制作しています。
当時、MoMAサイドの担当だったルイーズ・チン女史は、「コンピューター時代にふさわしいデザインのトランプをデザインして欲しい」とプレッシャーをかけてきました。
この一言がぼくにコンピューターへの扉を開けてくれたのです。

Designshop’s Hiroshi Mori has embarked on a crowdfunding endeavor titled “MoMA Trump Revival Project,” with the goal of reproducing the iconic playing cards originally designed by the renowned artist Takenobu Igarashi and released by the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in 1993. This initiative stems from Mori’s three-year-long negotiation process with MoMA, reflecting a concerted effort to revive and disseminate Igarashi’s significant contribution to the realm of graphic design.
During the late 1980s to early 1990s, as the Mac II computer ushered in the digital age of design, Igarashi was drawn to the blending tools integrated into illustrator software, a pivotal moment that propelled him towards computer-based design. Louise Chin, MoMA’s representative at the time, conveyed the institution’s desire for a design that resonated with the burgeoning era of computing, a catalyst that further propelled Igarashi’s exploration of digital design methodologies.
